PROJECT PORTFOLIO
Private Residence
Oakton, Virginia
This
typical 1970s California contemporary is being transformed in
two phases. Phase I of the remodel includes this expanded living
room, which opened up the formerly dim space to lush views of
the lovely yard.
| This
new entryway reflects the homeowner’s roots in Hawaii and simplicity
of eastern architecture and design. Light, airy and welcoming, the
foyer also displays several pieces of artwork. |
| The
homeowner always dreamed of having a traditional Japanese ofuro (bath).
The expanded master bedroom now includes this tranquil bath in the
ofuro style. The old bath was turned into a double walk-in closet. |
| Bass
Architects thoroughly researched the history, architecture and mystique
of the ofuro in order to design an authentic bath for this unique
home. The ofuro is made out of traditional hinoki wood and was custom
built by one of the only American companies that make them. |
