Private Residence
Arlington, Virginia

This well built, charming
house had seen years of wear, and suffered from outmoded features.
The whole-house renovation, which included a circular breakfast
nook (far right and below) and a new two-car carport, insured
better living space for the family and plenty of room to entertain
on a large scale.
|
|
 |
The kitchen was gutted and completely rebuilt, with new skylights
and windows, beautiful cabinets and state-of-the-art appliances.
The glazed circular breakfast nook adds drama inside and out,
and a former laundry room became a pantry for added storage space.
|
|
 |
The family room was also gutted and rebuilt, including this dramatic
fireplace with field stone that echoes the home’s exterior.
The ceiling was removed and new trusses were installed to provide
the cathedral ceilings. The sliding “shoji” screens
let in light while hiding the new pantry. |
|
 |
The
wall-to-wall windows in the family room bring the outdoors in with
dramatic flair, flooding the room with natural light and making
the space feel both expansive and cozy. |
